HAW PARK WOODS

We recently took a trip out to Haw Park woods, this woodland is situated about 4miles outside Wakefield and close to Anglers Country Park. The ancient woodland is very atmospheric with is tall straight pine trees. The last of the watch towers built by Charles Waterton still remains in the wood, there was originally 4 towers built as sentry boxs to ensure his pheasants and wildfowl wouldn’t be disturbed by poachers from the local towns.
